There's good news if you currently get your fix of entertainment via Freeview. This popular way of tuning into movies and TV shows appears to be getting a new channel that, until now, has only been available via premium paid-for providers such as Sky and Virgin Media. The team at UKTV has confirmed to Cord Busters that they will soon be launching the Eden channel on free-to-view platforms very soon. This service offers viewers high-quality natural science programming including BBC blue chip series like Planet Earth and the UKTV Original, David Attenborough's Natural Curiosities.Other shows available include Great British Landmark Fixers, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Titanic: Stories From The Deep and Expedition with Steve Backshall.UKTV, which is now rebranded as U, already offers UK homes plenty of free channels such as U&Dave, U&DRAMA, U&YESTERDAY and U&W. Now there will soon be even more things to watch without having to fork out for an expensive subscription.Along with arriving on Freeview, Eden is also coming to Freesat as well so homes that access free telly via a dish should get access in the coming months.News of this update comes as U has also recently announced that it will soon be coming to Freely screens as well. That means homes with Freely-powered screens will soon be able to tune into channels such as U&Dave, U&DRAMA, U&W and U&YESTERDAY. U&EDEN will also be arriving as well. For those not in the know, Freely is a platform which is owned by the team behind Freeview and Freesat. However, rather than using a conventional signal, this service is beamed into homes via a broadband connection and is also built into TVs meaning there's no need for a separate set-top box.At launch, there were limited channels available but this update from U will now boost what can be viewed on these internet-connected screens.
